In A Bead Rut


I am in a rut - a bead rut. I am just not feeling the beadmaking vibes, muse, whatever you want to call it. I do have two orders I will be making tomorrow, but otherwise, I haven't really been making any beads. It's been pretty cold here, for one thing. This is the most snow we've had in years - about 12 inches on the ground, all coming in the past 10 days. There was no school on Friday. It's funny, because even though there's no school, people manage to make it up to the slopes to snowboard or ski (my daughter being one of them!). There are some nice beads in my SueBeads etsy store ready for you to purchase, to make your next jewelry design. I've been doing a lot of cleaning out lately, but maybe I'll get the beading feeling back in the next few days!

Oh you know 'tis the rut season. To cold, inside air getting stale and too dark too early! But yay, the days are getting longer:)I have had my eye on these beads - the colors so beautiful and I love the pattern. They have a wonderful exotic feel.

When I get in a rut I just blog, surf etsy or clean out my studio and just try to get some ideas flowing in my head.

I do agree...I think it is the rut season...for me the cold is awful, but I live in northern Ontario so I should be able to take it right?

There are always nice beads at your Etsy store...

Take sometime and just forget about it, do something completely different...then it will hit you!!!

Yeah...I think the weather has a lot of us wondering where the vibe went...maybe it froze up with everything else? I'm hoping that some time away and in the sun will help a bit...

I hope you find the magical way out of your rut!

Oh, Sue, I do sympathize. We are cold, grey, and gloomy here too. It is just so hard to get motivated. Maybe we just need to visualize spring...tulips, iris, and green. Oh we do need green!

I keep wondering why schools close in the US as soon as some snow appears. After all, people still need to get places, even in the winter, or does business close down also?...

Yeah, this yucky Pittsburgh weather can do that to you. It's actually quite pretty but only when you're inside with hot cocoa to sip. You've really been working hard lately on so many wonderful lampwork creations. You deserve a break for your body and your mind.

Bead Soup Blog Party!

Today is the day of the big Bead Soup Blog Party reveal! Lori Anderson, the wonderful host of this event, reported that there are 362 participants this year! That's a lot of blogs to look at. I will try my best to get to each and every one, but it may take weeks! My partner was Laura Zeiner from Stick Lizard Designs . She has a lot of talent, that girl. If you recall in my previous post , she sent me these beads: And this is what I made: I love love love the focal she sent me. It's gorgeous! The lack of sun here in Pittsburgh does nothing for this rock! The colors and crystals are beautiful! I had no idea what to do with it, though, and I pondered for quite a while. I decided to make links with 18 gauge copper wire and think I did an ok job at it. I'm sure there are some better ways to do this, and I'd love to hear about them. The Tacky Earring Blog Hop

Diana Ptaszynski had a great idea, instead of a Tacky Christmas Sweater blog hop, a Tacky Holiday Earring blog hop! I was on it.  I had ideas right away.  I had so many I had to control myself.  You can buy these for $15 each, too!  Here we go! I found these awesome wreaths in the miniature Christmas section in Michaels, and they go perfectly with silver and copper colored plastic beads! These trees were found in Michaels, on an end-cap - I assume they are scrapbook or card making supplies, but make fantastic earrings.  The holes were a little small and far down, so I had to make LARGE loops.  Paired these with cute little gold colored jingle bells! And, finally, the ones I had in my head the moment she announced the blog hop.  Dr. Seuss sparkly puff balls with ribbons.  The only thing that would have made these better for me is if I could have found the red ribbons I really wanted to pair these with - don't get me wrong, the silver is ...
