To Etch or Not To Etch?

Regarde, before thee, a photo of two beads. To etch or not to etch, that is the question. I really like the organic quality of the etched bead (the second one), but I also really like the colors that you can see with the unetched bead (the first one). So, my question to thee - to etch or not to etch? Two things - 1) I apologize for the quality of the photo. While I can somewhat take pictures now, it doesn't mean I can process them. I guess I need to take Photography for Dummies. 2) I am not asking whether you like the actual beads; I realize that question would be one of taste. I am just asking which one you prefer!!! Thank you! Edited to add: to see the beads better, you may have to click on the photo to make it bigger. This is my fault - the photo is ok, but like I said, the processing leaves something to be desired! It is hard to see the difference, but the first one is shinier than the second!

Buttons!

Another post today - oh wow! My mom just gave me these buttons! I had mentioned to someone before that I knew my grandmother had bunches of buttons, but didn't know where they ended up. My mom found some of them. I made her a bracelet with a scottie dog button from Fusion Beads , (because Scottie Dogs are her favorite things!) and she said she had some more scottie dog buttons somewhere. Here they are! The scottie dogs are from Maine, the hearts are Japanese buttons, and the union jacks are actually from the UK, because they are marked 20 p (which means 20p, or 20 pence to us). You may have to click the photo to see the detail in the scottie dog buttons - they are kind of light.

Lucky!

I never thought I was a lucky person - my brother was the luckiest person I ever met. He was always winning things - a 500 gallon (not really but it was big) fish tank, a jet ski, stuff like that! Not me - I got third place in a math contest once at my school and that's about the only thing I can remember "winning." But ever since I joined the bloggy world, I feel lucky! I have met some very nice people, and I have actually won some giveaways as well! I thought it was high time I showed some of them here, and maybe you'll visit their stores as well! This pendant is from Lynn Davis, of expeditiond on etsy ; first off, I photographed it upside down - sorry Lynn, very very sorry! Anyways, she was having this giveaway on her blog , and I won it! I can't wait to make something with it, with my lampwork beads of course! This next one is a bottle cap pendant and art card from Kerry Bogert of Kabs Creative Concepts ; on her blog , she asked some advice on what she shou

Customer Work

This beautiful bracelet and earrings were made by Pamela of PamelasJewelry on etsy! She used my spice beads made on a 1/8" mandrel - they look great in her work! I'm excited to see what she does with the other fall colored beads she bought from me!

Jeannette Blix Giveaway

Oh boy - Jeannette Blix is having a giveaway too! Lots of goodies - check it out!

Art Bead Scene Giveaway

Check out this giveaway at the Art Bead Scene - Green Girl Studios mermaid charms - aren't they amazing?

Too Busy!

This week has been too busy to write, but I am continuing to list some small sets and pairs in the etsy store. The orders are caught up, so I might get to play making beads this weekend! Yahoo - school starts on Monday. Eye candy...

Just Because!

Aren't engineers wonderful?

Rainbow

I listed a rainbow today on etsy - sets of 5 disc beads made on a 1/8 inch mandrel. I love these - I need to make myself some! Please pardon the photo! :) It was cropped and everything and won't save...

Kris' Long Beach Island Bracelet

Kris is a customer of mine who has been buying TONS of beach beads! She sells on Long Beach Island and her jewelry is a hit. This is her signature piece, now, to sell as a memory of a wonderful beach trip! She doesn't have her etsy store open yet, but when she does, I'll let you know. In the meantime, if you want her to create something for you, let me know and I'll get in touch with her!

Amazing Artisans

You may be familiar with the story about Uzilla, U-boat, the Whacko from Waco; she is an alleged human form who is harassing all sorts of people on etsy, presumably because she - well I won't go into why. Anyways, there's a wonderful anonymous person who is showcasing all the targets on a great blog, Amazing Artisans . I happen to be featured on there too and I am in AMAZING company! It would be great if you all visit that web site, and give all the people who are being unfairly harassed some love!!!!! You can also find out some of the actual FACTS about this story by clicking on some of wonderful lady's links! Thanks!

Leaving Tomorrow

We are leaving the beach tomorrow, at like 7 am!!! I took no pictures this time, we didn't go to any bead stores, or to Savannah, or anywhere! But we had friends come down, and it was great! The kids all got along, and I actually have a tan this year. 12 hours apparently through rain tomorrow but I will be glad to get home, to my torch and my life. And hey, school starts soon - can't be all that bad to be home!!!!!!

Where I Am!

Renate diagnosed condensation - too bad I didn't notice it because the storm photo would have been really cool! This is almost the same photo with today's weather - amazing and hot!

Storm Brewing

Yesterday, around 3:30, there was a storm brewing out in the ocean- it was really cool because the sky above the horizon was so dark, the clouds above that were so white, and the ocean looked so green with the sunlight. I ran inside to get my camera to get a photo - and this is the photo I got! It must have been so hazy outside, that we didn't even realize it. The engineer's photos look the same way so it's not my terrible photography skills! Crazy!

Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who continues to buy my beads while I am on vacation! All are mailed out! Keep buying! I made my 500th sale on etsy - thank you!

We Made It!

It was a great drive, no problems except the driving rain that I got to drive through. No traffic, no accidents, lots of cops pulling over speeders though, so watch! It's 97 and humid here, hot hot hot! Nice day today, photos later!

Off To The Beach!

Well, tomorrow we take that long 12 hour drive to the beach, in South Carolina! I won't be posting tomorrow, and maybe sparingly while I am there, although I will bring my laptop. Of course, I won't be able to make any beads, but I am bringing all of my etsy stash, so if you purchase something, it will get mailed to you! Have a great week!

52 Bracelets

I just got my advance copy of 52 Bracelets in the mail yesterday - I am in it on page 29. It comes out August 18th - be sure to get your copy!!!! Here's a link!

Allegedly a Whackjob

Allegedly, there is an alleged person allegedly named U-boat allegedly from Whacko Texas or thereabouts who has allegedly been harassing alleged beadmakers for at least an alleged year. Today, she allegedly decided to pick on me. She allegedly wants you to believe that I don't pay my taxes. Not true. In Pennsylvania, you don't have to have a state sales licence until you actually make a sale in the alleged State of Pennsylvania. As soon as I made a sale in the alleged State of Pennsylvania, I filed for and received my state sales license. Any income I have ever made in my alleged life has been reported to the alleged IRS and the alleged State of Pennsylvania. If you ever saw the checks I have to write every quarter, you would agree!!! Therefore, if you hear weird things about me from an alleged weirdo, you may choose to believe them, but they won't be true. Having said all this, it still doesn't detract from the quality of my beads or the care I put into making

One Left

I have one Japanese Wave scrabble tile pendant left, listed in the BellaHannahJane etsy store! Pick it up if you want it! I have been inspired by japanese things for a long time, mostly since I had the great pleasure of accompanying my engineer to a professional society meeting in Yokohama and Hakone, Japan. That trip really changed my life in many ways! Here are some other pendants available in the BellaHannahJane etsy store as well.

Art Bead Scene Challenge - August

You can buy this pendant in my BellaHannahJane etsy jewelry store!

Confetti Earrings!

Hey! Check out my earring design on epatterns centra l - it's the web site by DRG where you can buy all kinds of patterns (not just beading). They are made with my sparkle barrel beads, and you can buy and download the pattern! The beads are available at SueBeads!

New Beads!

New beads have been listed in the SueBeads etsy store - check them out!

New Beadies!

I have mastered the hollow - sometimes! I made these the other night. Yes, I switched up my bead making schedule to work at night to allow time during the day for kid things. I think I was on a roll, because these really turned out great! I will be listing them tomorrow on etsy, but wanted to give you a sneak peek! I love hollow beads, and hopefully I will have a chance to bring to fruition an idea I have had since I was in Rome with the boyfriend two years ago!!!! Just so you know, they are really so much more shiny and great in person than in picture!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to my daughter who turns 14 today at around 1:15 p.m. I remember the day well!!!! Edited to add: We had a great day and night! The kids went swimming in our pool, late in the afternoon of course because their sleepover lasted until 3 am,, and then we went to our favorite restaurant for dinner - Dunning McNair's - Hannah's choice! Then we came home and had Strawberry Pie from Eat 'N Park, Hannah's choice again, then she got gifts. I think she got some really nice things, including a great outfit from my parents, from Delia's. I also ordered her an Ed Hardy watch, socks and sandals - she's really going to be too cool for school!!!!
