May Art Bead Scene Challenge

Finally, I managed to get my Art Bead Scene Challenge Piece in under the wire! I posted it today! I used a green connector from Nancy at Round Rabbit , and my own ribbed round lampwork beads . While it's not necessarily a most innovative piece, I am just happy with myself that I finished it and got it on the flickr group!

Goodies

I recently purchased and received some fantastic goodies in the mail from some fantastic people. Here's a look! This gorgeous resin pendant from Andrew Thornton ! I totally love it. He has some really gorgeous things in his shop that he made - you should check it out! Pendants from Jade Scott ! I am participating in the Delmont Apple N Arts Festival this year (first weekend of October) and these will be adorning some bracelets that I will be making! Birdies, flowers and hearts from LeAnn of Summers Studio ! I have too many of her things, and I keep hoarding them. These will also find a home with some lovely customer! LeAnn's shop is currently on vacation mode as she is moving across the country, but it will be back open soon!

Challenge - What do I do with those?

I have wanted to have a challenge of my own for quite some time. I am smitten with these little charms that I have been enameling, and decided they would be great for a challenge. Therefore, I would like to offer you, my readers, a little opportunity. Leave a comment on this blog post if you'd like to receive a set of 10 of these little charms. I will choose three people randomly to participate. If you are chosen, I will mail you a set of charms, my color choice, and ask that you complete your design in a few weeks' time (how about by June 25th) and have a blog reveal on that date! I will publish the list of participants and link to their blogs. I'll pick names on June 1st! I will choose the participants the old fashioned way - I'll write your name on a piece of paper and fold it up and let my son pick! Therefore, you can get extra entries by blogging or sharing on facebook; just let me know you did that in a separate comment and give me the link.

Artisan Clay Design Team May Reveal

Kristi Roeder, of Artisan Clay , sent me these beads this month! As usual, I waited until almost the last minute to do my work, but I had excuses - kid birthday, end of school year stuff, flooded basement, pool opening, too much to do outside, etc. etc. Just like all of you! These are her pendants made from recycled glass. They are pretty cool! You can find them on her web site and in her etsy store, although she's on vacation right now! Whatever happened yesterday when I tried to link to Kristi's etsy shop is fixed now, so here it is! ArtisanClay on etsy. I put the pendant with gunmetal chain I picked up from JoAnn's (Plaid) and some pretty czech rondelles, banded silver beads and swarovski crystals. Here's the detail of the dangles. I like them, the all match very well! I used some balled antiqued headpins that I purchased from Rocki on etsy . Here's the finished piece. Although there's a clasp, this is large enough to fit over my head. I may make it a

Web Site REDO - 10% Sale

Did you know I have a web site? I do - it's for all my made-to-order beads, while my etsy store is for my currently-in-inventory beads. I need to revamp it and will be doing so over the summer; I will be updating the photos, the prices, the shipping options and taking some beads away as they are either made of glass that is no longer in production or they just don't sell. Therefore, I am offering you a coupon that will last until the web site is all updated! Any order you place at www.SueBeads.com will receive 10% off using the coupon code REDO Please note that all bead sets will come with 6mm czech glass spacers and will no longer come with metal or crystal spacers. Thank you!

To Etch Or Not To Etch...

I made these beads yesterday, I love the color of the aqua blue. I made one pair etched, and love how they turned out. But I love the un-etched ones too. Which do you like? These will show up in my etsy store later today!

New Chunky Discs Available!

I spent today making some beads in between picking up for dentist and taking to urgent care for stitch removal. I'm beat! But I wanted to let you know these are up and available at the SueBeads etsy store now! The green ones were made from grass green and are not as bright as the photo shows, but we have some weird light going on here right now!

Sun = Photos!

I was able to photograph some of these darker color beads because we had SUN today! Woo Hoo! I just spent three hours in the yard (kids helped!) and now I'm in for a rest! And maybe a beer. And I took these photos, and you can find these beads at the SueBeads etsy store now!

Chunky Discs are up!

I listed some chunky discs in the SueBeads etsy store ! If they get sold and you want some, just let me know! I can make them in all kinds of colors! Please excuse the fact that, although it quit raining here in the 'burgh, there is a marked lack of sunlight, which makes it hard to take those gorgeous sunny photos of beads! These are still great beads though!

New Beads Listed

I listed some new beads in the SueBeads etsy store , and those chunky discs will be coming up soon!

More Inspiration!

My friend Jenn Judd Velasquez, of Jen Judd Rocks! , took a little trip earlier in the week to Colonial Williamsburg with her honey. She took some photos of floxglove while she was there and posted some really cool effects that she did on picnik .

Customer Work

I always love when customers send me photos of what they make with the beads I make! Here are two recent customers and what they made! The first is StevieBDesigns on etsy. He used my mini sparkle beads and coordinating leather cord to make these really cool earrings! Check out his shop - these earrings are currently available! The next is Kristi Bowman of DreamSome on etsy! She used custom-made beads based on a set of inspiration beads I posted about earlier. She used her own enameled head pins and her own Sea Urchin textured squares to make the earrings! They are great, and are available in her etsy store as well! If you have used beads that you purchased from me, please send me photos of your finished jewelry! I'll be glad to feature them and post a link to your shop!

I have had my chunky disc press for a while now, but just last week got it out and made some beads with it! I love them! I can't wait to make more today! They measure about 14mm. They will be in the etsy store later today - first I have to have breakfast with my friend Lorraine!

More Inspiration

My son's friend Amy went to Australia last summer, and brought him back this boomerang thingy. I love the colors and the dots, and thought it would be great for some inspiration for some beads. So here's a small interpretation of the design on the boomerang. Cool, huh? Look for some more beady inspiration next week!
