Bead Peeps Swap and Blog Hop

Today is the reveal for the Bead Peeps Swap and Blog Hop!  My partner was Shai Williams.  I've "known" Shai in the cyber world for a while now, so was happy she was my partner.  This is what Shai sent to me.  Please visit Shai's blog to see what I sent her and what she made!

I've been quite over-extended this past month, and while I wanted to accomplish more with the beads she sent me, I just did not have enough time with the other obligations on my plate.  But I did manage to make three things.

First is a bracelet I made with the bracelet bar, some chain and the blue sea glass type beads from Shai.  I used one of my own lampwork beads and some brass filigree beads and Indian glass purple beads.  I have to say that I'm really not totally happy with it, and may play around later on when I have more time.

I also made earrings with these rough cut beads from Shai.  I used some brass tubes I had.  I wanted them to be longer, but the paddle headpins I had were kind of short, so I gave the earrings length with these ear wires!

Here's what took me so long to make - this awesome spiral stitched necklace used with the focal from Andrew Thornton!

It was very fiddly - using the teardrop beads with the seed beads was a little bit of a challenge but I really like how it looks.  You can see in great detail in the photo below!

I really really want to make something with those blue teardrop beads, but can't think of anything yet.  Maybe I'll get some inspiration from your designs!

Thank you so much to Shai for being my partner and to Linda Anderson for being the host of this very large swap and blog hop!

Please check out what everyone else made by hopping along over the weekend!

Beautiful pieces, Sue. I love the color of the rough cut stones, and the sweet simple design of the earrings.

What beautiful designs Sue and WOW that necklace is pretty amazing such a wonderful stitch and it goes so beautifully with the pendent!

It's great to see other artists challenged. The blue necklace and twisted spiral you did, makes up in my book that you had time to make 3 distinctive accessory pieces. The bonus of not having time to make as much as you had hoped, you have new items to stash & hoard until you are inspired again!

Wow Sue! Love all those designs but I do have to say that the necklace is incredible!

It was so great having you as a partner and I still have more pretties to create with.

All three designs are lovely. The necklace with the snowflake pendant is stunning. The simplicity of the earrings is elegant. But I have to say the bracelet is my favorite.

Every piece you've made for the hop is beautiful, Sue. I'm not sure why you're not happy with the bracelet because I love it! The two colours look so good together and the elegant simplicity of the design really speaks to me ( It's saying "Wear me, wear me!") a perfect summer decoration.

Love seeing what you made for the hop. Your beadwork on the last necklace is amazing!

All very fun pieces! that spiral necklace is great - those seeds match the focal so well

Nice work - I like the long earrings!
Time does get away from us, doesn't it? What you made are beautiful pieces that look like they took loads of time to make. I adore the bracelet with the ceramic flower focal. And on the bright side you still have goodies to play with when you do have the time.

Very pretty! I like the bracelet...perfect color combination and the beads really make the focal stand out. The earrings are fabulous and the necklace...well I'm always a little jealous of anyone who can do beadweaving and make it look soooo good!
Very nice work, especially like the bracelet & the way you put it together !!

I love the focal in the first picture so much and I like the bracelet you made with it. The long ear wires are very elegant. The spiral rope is awesome!

All of your pieces are great! I love the way the spiral stitch looks like frost! It goes so well with the pendant! I feel so honored to have you use one of my pieces in such a stunning piece! Good job!

Hi Sue, Your spiral rope necklace is wonderful. The white drops compliment Andrew's focal perfectly.

Bead Soup Blog Party!

Welcome to the 3rd Bead Soup Blog Party! What is a Bead Soup Blog Party? Each beader was paired up with another jewelry designer and tasked with sending the following: ~ A focal ~ A special clasp (not just a lobster claw) ~ Some coordinating spacers or beads Using the focal and the clasp was mandatory, but we could use anything from our own stash to round out the rest, and choose to use the coordinating beads or not. You may recall my partner was Margot Potter ; click this link to see the blog post I wrote of what she sent me! Here's what I made! Dangly earrings! Come see what the rest of us made! 1. Bead Soup Blog Party!

Today is the day of the big Bead Soup Blog Party reveal! Lori Anderson, the wonderful host of this event, reported that there are 362 participants this year! That's a lot of blogs to look at. I will try my best to get to each and every one, but it may take weeks! My partner was Laura Zeiner from Stick Lizard Designs . She has a lot of talent, that girl. If you recall in my previous post , she sent me these beads: And this is what I made: I love love love the focal she sent me. It's gorgeous! The lack of sun here in Pittsburgh does nothing for this rock! The colors and crystals are beautiful! I had no idea what to do with it, though, and I pondered for quite a while. I decided to make links with 18 gauge copper wire and think I did an ok job at it. I'm sure there are some better ways to do this, and I'd love to hear about them. I'm just really starting to get into the world of wire and so my skills aren't that great. In any event, I made some beady links ...

The Tacky Earring Blog Hop

Diana Ptaszynski had a great idea, instead of a Tacky Christmas Sweater blog hop, a Tacky Holiday Earring blog hop! I was on it.  I had ideas right away.  I had so many I had to control myself.  You can buy these for $15 each, too!  Here we go! I found these awesome wreaths in the miniature Christmas section in Michaels, and they go perfectly with silver and copper colored plastic beads! These trees were found in Michaels, on an end-cap - I assume they are scrapbook or card making supplies, but make fantastic earrings.  The holes were a little small and far down, so I had to make LARGE loops.  Paired these with cute little gold colored jingle bells! And, finally, the ones I had in my head the moment she announced the blog hop.  Dr. Seuss sparkly puff balls with ribbons.  The only thing that would have made these better for me is if I could have found the red ribbons I really wanted to pair these with - don't get me wrong, the silver is ...
