December CoM with Diana Ptaszynski

The December Component of the Month challenge was provided by Diana Ptaszynski - snowflake pendants, how appropriate.  Although here in Pittsburgh, I think we had .10 inches of snow in December...so much for a horrible winter!  I chose this white pendant, and as usual, didn't photograph it before I started working on it.  In my defense, I knew right away what I wanted to do, so...

 I made a spiral rope with two colors of white seed beads!  I was so excited to do this.  I had a false start, in that I wanted to do it with size 8's and 15's, but it just wasn't really working, plus I was trying to do Russian Spiral, which is beyond me at this point.  So I made a simple spiral with size 11 seed beads and I'm still happy!
 I used this toggle clasp that I just purchased from Lesley Watt, and it went perfectly!

 Here's a closeup of the spiral rope and the two colors of beads.

That's beautiful SUe and I can't believes I did'nt think to use one of those clasps myself - it's just perfect. Doh!

This is lovely. The spiral rope is wonderful. Pieces like this always make me want to learn to bead weave. And that clasp is so perfect!

Great job Sue. Spiral ropes are one of my favorite stitches so I think your necklace is beautiful. Yes Lesley's clasp was the perfect finishing touch.

OMG I have no idea how you do those spiral robe seed bead things (I've tried and I just can't get it, lol) but it looks fabulous! And that clasp from Lesley IS perfect. I need to talk to her. LOL!

Very nice design. You took a very rustic lovely snowflake and gave it a touch of bling. I like how you matched the toggle from Lesley Watt to the pretty snowflake.

Gorgeous Sue! Sometimes simple is just what a component needs :) And sometimes wrapping your brain around a new technique on a deadline just doesn't work. I love your simple spiral solution :)

Oh, I love that you used 2 shades of white for the necklace! It really gives the twist of the spiral nice definition! That clasp!..a perfect compliment to Diana's focal! It's great when everything comes together so nicely! Lovely piece!

This is sooo lovely, Sue! I enjoy spiral weave too, but am always too impatient to make a whole necklace strap in size 11's. So I've just made spiral bracelets. I like the subtle contrast of your transparent and opaque white beads. Very pretty!

Puppies!

I just had to include this photo of my friend Beth's new puppies. They are 11 week old Jack Russell Terriers. The smaller one is the runt of the litter, but too cute. They are Libby and Lucy!!! Click on the photo to see them bigger!

Another quick post!

I know, I'm on a roll today. Even though I got a late start, I've made beads, made posts, done some scrabble tiles, now I have to fold some laundry and think about dinner. Just wanted to post a photo and link to the ebay auction of mine that started last night - I like the beads, they have a southwest feel and would make a fantastic focal piece in a bracelet, or a whole bracelet too!
