Tree Disaster - June 25, 2013

I've mentioned a few times that I have been working on a huge job with my boyfriend; we finally finished that job last week.  Saturday, June 22 to be exact.  We were so happy that it was over!  We were ready to start on a couple new jobs when - DISASTER showed up in the form of a storm.  Here's what happened to my backyard.

TWO large trees fell, through my stockade fence, on my Versa-Lok wall, on my aluminum pool fence.

On some landscaping, but most was spared.

These are the wonderful guys who cut the tree in pieces so we could get rid of it quicker - the power company didn't want them to, they wanted to just let it fall where it was and ruin everything.

This was the end of the day on Wednesday, my boyfriend, his son, me and my two kids cleaned it almost all in one day...

The pile that was left to remove from the back.

This is where the trees hit the stockade fence.

The aluminum fence was cruched.

I also have to mention, we had to clean up the guy next door's yard, as parts of the tree fell in his yard.  And we had to clean up behind the stockade fence.  I always wanted those trees gone, but not this way.

This is why I haven't been making beads all week in prep for Bead Fest - not feeling it!

You poor thing! I saw your pics on FB and my heart sank for you! But I have to say, you are blessed to have such a wonderful support system!! Mother Nature has been cruel this year...
So sorry to read about your tree disaster. When a Derecho came through northern Virginia last June, several homes on a nearby street had trees that had crashed through the roof. Glad that wasn't the case for you! Looks like you all did a wonderful and efficient job bringing order back to your gorgeous yard! I say a pool party is in order! ;)

The Tacky Earring Blog Hop

Diana Ptaszynski had a great idea, instead of a Tacky Christmas Sweater blog hop, a Tacky Holiday Earring blog hop! I was on it.  I had ideas right away.  I had so many I had to control myself.  You can buy these for $15 each, too!  Here we go! I found these awesome wreaths in the miniature Christmas section in Michaels, and they go perfectly with silver and copper colored plastic beads! These trees were found in Michaels, on an end-cap - I assume they are scrapbook or card making supplies, but make fantastic earrings.  The holes were a little small and far down, so I had to make LARGE loops.  Paired these with cute little gold colored jingle bells! And, finally, the ones I had in my head the moment she announced the blog hop.  Dr. Seuss sparkly puff balls with ribbons.  The only thing that would have made these better for me is if I could have found the red ribbons I really wanted to pair these with - don't get me wrong, the silver is cool and all, but in my head they w
