B'Sue Sari Ribbon Blog Hop

Brenda Sue, of B'Sue Boutique, is hosting a blog hop today! We were to use sari ribbon to create a piece of jewelry. As usual, time got away from me and I left it to Thursday night to complete. However, sometimes that works for me. I used a really gorgeous handmade chain I had purchased quite a while ago from Lynn Davis and red and orange chalcedony faceted rondelles. The sari ribbon has red and orange colors in it and I think it goes pretty well! I had fun making this piece - don't know if I'll keep it this way or not. It's a little big for me (I have unusually small wrists!) and I think I might play with the design a little someday when time doesn't get away from me! Here's a list of all the other participants - check their blogs out, if you get a chance, to see what they made with sari ribbon!

A beautiful piece! I hope you keepi it just like this.

I've never used silk or ribbon of any kind in my jewelry because I can't seem to get it to look right. You make it look so easy!

Great idea, Sue! I love the sari with the chain....how handsome is THAT chain! I'm so glad you found time for our hop. This is B'sue Boutiques first hop and I was so thrilled to have over FORTY particpants, first time out. Please remember to come and post your photo at the B'sue Boutiques Creative Group at Flickr. Joining is fun, fast, free and easy...and we have a lovely little community there. Starting next month the goal is to have monthly challenges. It is SO AMAZING to see the process in so many hands. THANKS SO MUCH AGAIN!

Sue, we used similar ribbon! I too have oddly small wrists...must be a beadmakers thing...hehe.

I love this design. Like you, I have very small wrists and sometimes it is hard to incorporate the textures that I like without looking like my wrist has been swallowed up by something. There is definite possibilities with this piece in altering the size and the colors are fantastic!!
That is really pretty! I like the asymmetry and I can see what you mean about the stones picking up colors in the ribbon! Love it!

Love your piece...your ribbon choice reminds me of the colors leaves take on and your choice of beads remind me of pumpkins in the fall...very fall looking! ;o)
Sue, that is a beautiful bracelet I love how the Chalcedony faceted rondelles bring out the colors in the silk ribbon and the chain goes well with the design.

Sue-A very light and simple design- works well with the Sari Ribbon-I am big on mixing metal with fiber-Well done! I missed the hop because of my father's passing-hope you get a chance to visit me

Love the use of silver--you really don't see much of that anymore and it does make a great contrast to the ribbon.

I have made more than one bracelet that's too big for me, so I can totally sympathize!

If it's too large, you could always add some overhand knots to the sari ribbon to shorten the length. That handmade chain is cool!

Stunning!
I rarely use silver but I think I need to start. The colors are gorgeous.

Bead Soup Blog Party!

Welcome to the 3rd Bead Soup Blog Party! What is a Bead Soup Blog Party? Each beader was paired up with another jewelry designer and tasked with sending the following: ~ A focal ~ A special clasp (not just a lobster claw) ~ Some coordinating spacers or beads Using the focal and the clasp was mandatory, but we could use anything from our own stash to round out the rest, and choose to use the coordinating beads or not. You may recall my partner was Margot Potter ; click this link to see the blog post I wrote of what she sent me! Here's what I made! Dangly earrings! Come see what the rest of us made! 1. The Tacky Earring Blog Hop

Diana Ptaszynski had a great idea, instead of a Tacky Christmas Sweater blog hop, a Tacky Holiday Earring blog hop! I was on it.  I had ideas right away.  I had so many I had to control myself.  You can buy these for $15 each, too!  Here we go! I found these awesome wreaths in the miniature Christmas section in Michaels, and they go perfectly with silver and copper colored plastic beads! These trees were found in Michaels, on an end-cap - I assume they are scrapbook or card making supplies, but make fantastic earrings.  The holes were a little small and far down, so I had to make LARGE loops.  Paired these with cute little gold colored jingle bells! And, finally, the ones I had in my head the moment she announced the blog hop.  Dr. Seuss sparkly puff balls with ribbons.  The only thing that would have made these better for me is if I could have found the red ribbons I really wanted to pair these with - don't get me wrong, the silver is cool and all, but in my head they w
