My Button Finds Today

I think I've mentioned before that I don't do a lot of shopping. I do the grocery store, things the kids need, etc., but I don't do shopping for fun or sport. Today I went out to 5 stores (shudder): Target, post office, JoAnn's, Kohl's and the grocery store. When I was at JoAnn's, after I found what I needed (black ribbon for a necklace idea) I decided to have a look at the buttons. WOW! SO many buttons, so little money! Here's a look at what I got today! Fun! (Excuse the photos - crop to mask and me don't really get along).

Great buttons! What super finds :o)

Despite what some may think, I don't really like shopping that much - with the exception of Michael's and the bead shop (and sometimes Target cause it's a cool store)...Other than that, I could really do without!
Oh yes, I visited that button aisle in Joanne's. It should be banned. You got some get finds today. Any idea what you'll do with these goodies?

A quick tip if you don't know it. Get on both Jo-Ann's mailing list and their email list. You will get coupons both places and unlike Michael's you can use them all. (My Michael's will let you use one of their coupons and one competitor coupon.)

Really great finds! It would be fun to see what you do with them because I'm at a loss as how to use buttons and would find it very interesting.

AE Component of the Month - July - Scarabs by Me!

I provided the scarab beads for the Component of the Month Challenge over at Art Elements for July! And as usual, didn't take a photo of my own bead before I started working with it.  But here is the one I used - unfortunately, you can't see the lustrous oil slick colors of this black metallic glass because once again we have cloudy days here in Pittsburgh. I made a choker length necklace using spiral stitch and these awesome seed beads that go so well with this black metallic glass! I used hematite swarovski crystals to divide the bead stitching and the scarab focal bead; I actually ordered a pile of pairs of various black swarovski colors and decided that these match the best! I finished off the necklace with the ball socket clasp - it's a nice way to finish a spiral stitch - the size is just right and it's fairly easy to sew into the design. Please check out what our guests and team members made with their scarabs! And thanks to everyone who took par...
