The Rat


I have been making some orders this past week, so I haven't done much to show you. Therefore, here's a cute photo of the rat. He is still alive, after 3 years and 3 months. I believe he's dancing his last dance, though, as they are only supposed to live 2-3 years. We must be doing something right here!

Edited to add: He's really a gerbil, his name is Flash but I call him Ratboy, and so do my friends! Sometimes ratty, too, when I babytalk him!

A family member of mine has a rat and they are dear little creatures! They certainly have feelings as they show fear and get scared easily. It makes me think of all the wild creatures and the fear they must encounter when caught for food. They have 2 rats named Big and Little. Rats are wonderful! (but pee alot hee hee) Your little guys must be well loved too!

Does he bite? When I was a kid, all of my hamsters were biters. My children on the other hand, had lovely affectionate rats that never bit. But the tails were a little ugly. Ratboy looks pretty cute!

I had hamsters from eighth grade until into my mid-thirties when I bought a house and could have cats. My brother's nickname for me is Hampster (with a P for some reason.) All of my hamsters were well loved, but it didn't seem to matter...each died a tragic, untimely death. The last one probably would have too, as there was overlap between the last hamster and the first cat. I gave him away before any fatal mishaps could occur!

Another quick post!

I know, I'm on a roll today. Even though I got a late start, I've made beads, made posts, done some scrabble tiles, now I have to fold some laundry and think about dinner. Just wanted to post a photo and link to the ebay auction of mine that started last night - I like the beads, they have a southwest feel and would make a fantastic focal piece in a bracelet, or a whole bracelet too! Art Elements April Theme Challenge - Repurpose

The AE Theme Challenge this month is Repurpose chosen by Lesley. Great subject, and I wish I had more time to work on it. The day job kind of takes away my creative energy at times, and this month is no exception! However I did manage to do a few things! The first thing I thought of for the theme was something I had been thinking about for a long time. I remembered I had this magazine that repurposed those desiccant containers you get in pill bottles into beaded beads. I set out to find that magazine in my stash. I'm glad I found it, because it was actually driving me nuts as to where it was. Here are some photos of me in the process of making some of these beads. So the first one I made, I liked ok. But noticed on the end that you could see the white container through the ends. So I got a sharpie out for the next one, and colored the ends so they didn't look so white.
