Beach!


WooHoo - we are leaving for the beach tomorrow morning! I am still taking bead orders and will get to work right away when I get back - so keep ordering! I will take all the items I have for sale on etsy, so you can still purchase etsy items, and I'll be able to mail them from South Carolina! I'll just leave you with some eye candy! I'm making some of my designer beads in a bigger mandrel size (4-5mm) in addition to the regular sizes I already make. Let me know if you are interested! These work great on "those" bracelets! I also have a customer who is using them on her braided dog leashes! Sounds like a cool idea!

The AE Theme Challenge this month is Repurpose chosen by Lesley. Great subject, and I wish I had more time to work on it. The day job kind of takes away my creative energy at times, and this month is no exception! However I did manage to do a few things! I remembered I had this magazine that repurposed those desiccant containers you get in pill bottles into beaded beads. I set out to find that magazine in my stash. Bead Soup Blog Party!

Welcome to the 3rd Bead Soup Blog Party! What is a Bead Soup Blog Party? AE Component of the Month - July - Scarabs by Me!

I provided the scarab beads for the Component of the Month Challenge over at Art Elements for July! And as usual, didn't take a photo of my own bead before I started working with it.  But here is the one I used - unfortunately, you can't see the lustrous oil slick colors of this black metallic glass because once again we have cloudy days here in Pittsburgh. I made a choker length necklace using spiral stitch and these awesome seed beads that go so well with this black metallic glass! I used hematite swarovski crystals to divide the bead stitching and the scarab focal bead; I actually ordered a pile of pairs of various black swarovski colors and decided that these match the best! I finished off the necklace with the ball socket clasp - it's a nice way to finish a spiral stitch - the size is just right and it's fairly easy to sew into the design.
