Sue Beads

Time for another Component of the Month - this time Lesley sent us these awesome shell cabs/pendants.  I chose a cabochon, I just can't get enough of them! The cabochon is somewhat shallow, so I didn't bead bezel it, I glued it down really well and started beading around it. I wanted to invoke the feeling of the ocean, but underneath where there's movement but it's gentle and flowing! I used colors that were found in the colors of the cabochon, and then added "tentacles" of size 15 seed beads and then size 11 seed beads - kind of an anemone look. I used some awesome O-beads that I had picked up in Texas last year - they are sparkly and AB/mirror like - perfect for under water! Right now I'm not sure what it wants to be so I'm going to leave it like this for a while.  I was thinking either necklace or pin - but maybe it wants to be part of some kind of sea piece wall art? The component of the month for April was provided by Jennifer Cameron.  She made these awesome textured dichroic silver glass sparkly focal beads for us! Yes, as usual, I didn't take a photo of mine before I worked on it!  I made this great focal piece. I used a silver clay headpin from Andrew Thornton, urchin style bead caps, and a great pinch bail.  I had purchased some hand-dyed ribbon from Amy Kuczewski which arrived Monday in the mail! I've decided to leave off the Week designation on those posts because I haven't participated in all of them and some we have been given 2 weeks to accomplish.  This weekly challenge was brought to us by Lesley Watt, who chose an image as a prompt (below): I was happy about this one! I had a tube of a bead mix called Aztec by a now-closed on-line bead shop called eebeads.  I loved the mix and hoarded it until now! I made a plain, 2-drop flat peyote cuff with this awsome clasp!  It took me quite a while to find the perfect clasp, so I'm glad we had 2 weeks to complete the challenge!
