Bead Enameling with Barbara Lewis

This weekend, I made my way to Reston Virginia (a four hour drive) to take a class, sponsored by Jeanette Blix and Cindy Wimmer, called Bead Enameling with Barbara Lewis. I'm sure most of you are familiar with her work. It was great! The engineer and I had a pleasant drive down, and a dinner at our hotel before we watched a crazy movie, The Long Kiss Goodnight. It's like an old Mr. and Mrs. Smith, with humor! I had my class on Saturday from 10-4 and my arm literally hurts. Here's some photos of what I made. The people in the class were wonderful, I only burned my shirt and my arm once, I met some nice people and some bloggy people. Jeanette and Cindy are planning some more classes and their web site is going to be called ArtBliss - I'll make sure to let you know when they get it up and running!

Sue, oh my goodness your beads turned out just amazing!! Really! Just look at that even color - and you even tackled several bead cones too! Now I'm embarassed to show my beads! :-( I took a nice picture of you - I'll post it soon with all of the rest. It was so nice to meet you and to see your lampwork beads in person. I hope you can make it back down for Round II!

Sue, Your beads are really nice. I like the colors you chose and the way you put on the enamel. Sounds like the best day ever. Thanks for sharing it with us who couldn't come.

You can really tell who had serious lampwork ability -- they had some major beads! And I'm so glad I got to meet you and score some of your awesome lampwork!

Sue, it's beauty-beauty for sure!

I'm taking a class with Melissa Manley at Artfest in just a few weeks, can't wait. I don't know if it's the same sort of thing or different.

I'm going to humm and put my hands on my ears about the burned shirt and self, in case my TORCH TERROR might hear about that!

You did a great job, love the colors, woo hoo!

Wonderful beads...you are so privileged to be able to take those classes...

I know there are many people out there, myself included, who would love to take a similiar class but can't because of location!!!

Enjoy...
Cheers

Thanks everyone for the great comments! We did have a very nice time, and sweated off a few pounds, I'm sure! The colors in the second photo are grey, nile green and periwinkle over nut brown, I believe. They look very similiar in the light in which I took the photos, but they look very nice in person. I'll take more photos in the lightbox and see how those come out! thanks again, everyone, it was a great time, and if you can ever take a class from Barbara, you should do it!
