Customer Work

Cindy, from DevineDesignsJewelry on etsy sent me this photo of a bracelet she made with my beads. I just love it! The dangle by the clasp is a kokopeli - this is a very subtle, pretty southwest design! Check out her shop!

My First Attempts At Enameling

Here are two photos of what I made this morning. Not like Barbara's , but ok. I'll use them for myself, in any event. I hope to do more this weekend - between school delays today, sick kid and my own headache (I need to get the chiropractor) I haven't gotten much accomplished this week. I do have a few bead sets to list in the etsy shop - I'll let you know later when I do!

New Beads

More new beads in the SueBeads etsy store !

Oh Mary!

Mary Harding had a Valentine's sale in her etsy store, and I could not resist! I bought a pendant and two toggle clasps. I could not wait to get them. The package came. I opened it. I was amazed! This is how it came! She wrapped it with a beautiful ribbon that I will surely use in some jewelry designs, but she also included a tiny little heart pendant as well. OMG - how cute! Here's a closeup of the pendant and the ribbon, and her beautiful brand sticker on the box! The pendant - she also included ribbon and a card, with a description of the item on the back. One of the toggles. Not only does she wrap them in a little cellophane bag, but she wraps the entire package on the inside with pretty purple tissue paper. Mary Harding is a great artist, but she is also incredibly thoughtful in how she packages and sends her work. She must take a great deal of time doing this! Not only was I thrilled to get what I ordered, but it was like a present opening the package. Thank you Ma

New Beads

Just listed some new beads in the SueBeads etsy store - I'm on my way down to the ccccold basement to make some more for some orders! I'm sorry to say that, last night, there was a shooting due to a parking space fight - a man shoveled out a space for his girlfriend and someone parked in it. A fight ensued, the police came, and the man who shoveled took a shot at police. Luckily no one was hurt or died. It's getting ridiculous out there! Katie Nelson posted on my facebook about other cities who do the parking chair thing, so it's not just Pittsburgh, but boy is it nasty!

Parking Chairs - The End

Here's the last of my parking chair photos from the weekend. More beads later on!

New Beads

I just listed some new beads in the SueBeads etsy store - take a look! I'm also trying to get a little fancy with my new camera, so watch out!

More Entertainment, and More Beads Later

(right by the fire hydrant that no one bothered to dig out...) Here are some more entertaining parking chairs for you. The more photos I took, the more I had to take - it is so ridiculous. As soon as one person saves their space, everyone else has to save theirs too - kind of like saving your pool chair at 7am at a resort or you won't get one... I'll have more beads listed in the SueBeads etsy store in a bit, and I'll post when I do!

For Your Entertainment - More Pittsburgh Parking "Chairs"

I'll give you five a day - I have so many. I'm thinking of publishing a book through LuLu!

Barbara Lewis is Having a Giveaway!!!!

Barbara Lewis, of Painting with Fire , is having a giveaway on her blog - check it out! I chose this picture to post because it's my favorite color set of her beads! I hope I win it!

Nancy's Clasp and the Whole Necklace

Here are photos of the whole necklace I made with Nancy's beads, and a photo of the clasp she made! Some of you were interested in seeing them!

Art Bead Scene February Challenge - Luna Park by Vestie Davis

The February Art Bead Scene challenge is "Luna Park" by Vestie Davis. It's a really cute painting, with red and blue and hearts as the highlights. I created the bracelet below to enter into the challenge. I made a three-strand bracelet with turquoise seed beads, sterling silver heart chain, and my own wire wrapped lampwork beads. It was challenging for me (you should have heard my language!!) connecting the heart chain and the seed bead layer, but it worked out, and one can actually wear the bracelet, too. This is a closeup of the focal bead I made. I really like it. It's clear glass, with red endcaps, and I twisted a handmade twistie onto it, made of red, turquoise and clear. I really like how it turned out! The other beads I made were pale aqua and red. The clasp is a heart toggle clasp, which also goes with the theme. Challenging myself to get this done, and using the idea that was in my head, was really good for me this week - after all these snow days an

My Elusive Friend

A day and then a week passed by: The redbird hanging from the sill Sang not; and all were wondering why It was so still— When one bright morning, loud and clear, Its whistle smote my drowsy ear, Ten times repeated, till the sound Filled every echoing niche around; And all things earliest loved by me,— The bird, the brook, the flower, the tree,— Came back again, as thus I heard The cardinal bird. - William Davis Gallagher He lives in the apple tree with his mate. Every time I go on the deck to take his photo, he disappears into the tree! He is so beautiful - against the white snow, it's amazing how red he is. He sits and watches his mate eat out of the bird feeder I have hanging on my front porch. I'll try again tomorrow to get a better photo of him!

Monster Icicles

My Valentine Knows...

...that tulips are my favorite flower. Why? Because I can't grow them in my yard - the deer eat them all! So whenever he can, he gets me tulips. For Valentine's Day, he got me three bunches (this photo just shows two)!
