AJE Component of the Month Reveal - January

Over at Art Jewelry Elements, it's time for the January Component of the Month Reveal. This month, it was Karen Totten's turn -she's the lovely woman behind Starry Road Studio.  She made us pie to use this month!  Actually, they are hollow lentil beads, but they kind of resemble pie!  I chose this olive one with reddish-brown tints.  Very fall-like.  I really like olive green.

This wasn't what I was going to make.  In fact I ordered beads, but they did not arrive in time.  So I ran to Michael's at the last minute, something I REALLY hate to do, and purchased these metallic rounds and ceramic discs.  They really go well with the piece Karen made.

I used the green metallic rounds because they really matched with my olive pie.  The discs are in shades of butter yellow, brown, and rust red, and really give the whole piece an autumnal feel.

I finished the piece off with antiqued copper chain and toggle clasp.  All in all, even though it wasn't what I was going to make, I do like it!

Please take a look at what everyone else made with their pie, including our three special guest designers!

Sue, besides the fact that I just love this necklace, I love the fact that you show what can be done with craft store beads. You made the piece look so expensive and original. Great design!

I think this is really beautiful Sue! I love the Fall feel of this - so perfectly in tune with the olive green leaf design of the bead!

This turned out great! I have not seen those beads at Michaels. I have amassed quite a stash from there. I think that the colors work really well with the focal from Karen. A beautiful design! Enjoy the day. Erin
It turned out great! Those ceramic discs are a good choice, and the varied colors make the focal really pop.
Your piece turned out gorgeous! Love the colors, but I am not ready to skip spring and summer yet :-)

Sue, love this necklace! It's gorgeous.
I love your necklace! Makes me wonder what you would've done with the beads you intended. Will you make another one?

I can't even imagine what you had envisioned originally, but this is so gorgeous! The earthiness you achieved with it really appeals to me. Beautifully done.

Bead Soup Blog Party!

Welcome to the 3rd Bead Soup Blog Party! What is a Bead Soup Blog Party? Each beader was paired up with another jewelry designer and tasked with sending the following: ~ A focal ~ A special clasp (not just a lobster claw) ~ Some coordinating spacers or beads Using the focal and the clasp was mandatory, but we could use anything from our own stash to round out the rest, and choose to use the coordinating beads or not. You may recall my partner was Margot Potter ; click this link to see the blog post I wrote of what she sent me! Here's what I made! Dangly earrings! Come see what the rest of us made! 1. The Tacky Earring Blog Hop

Diana Ptaszynski had a great idea, instead of a Tacky Christmas Sweater blog hop, a Tacky Holiday Earring blog hop! I was on it.  I had ideas right away.  I had so many I had to control myself.  You can buy these for $15 each, too!  Here we go! I found these awesome wreaths in the miniature Christmas section in Michaels, and they go perfectly with silver and copper colored plastic beads! These trees were found in Michaels, on an end-cap - I assume they are scrapbook or card making supplies, but make fantastic earrings.  The holes were a little small and far down, so I had to make LARGE loops.  Paired these with cute little gold colored jingle bells! And, finally, the ones I had in my head the moment she announced the blog hop.  Dr. Seuss sparkly puff balls with ribbons.  The only thing that would have made these better for me is if I could have found the red ribbons I really wanted to pair these with - don't get me wrong, the silver is cool and all, but in my head they w
