Artisan Clay Design Team Reveal

It's already the last Friday in September (can you believe it????), and today is the Artisan Clay Design Team reveal day! Kristie Roeder sends us a pretty piece of prettyness each month and we make something with it and show you! I am really excited about my piece this month!I chose this beautiful dark teal button. While I was at ArtBLISS, Ms. Jen and I discussed how we hadn't made any bracelets with our pieces from Kristie, so I was determined to do that this time. I immediately thought of chain as connector. I used brass chain I had and attached it to itself with some small jump rings.
I made ribbed round beads in dark teal Bullseye glass that match really well with the button! I patinated some bronze wire with my new Lenk torch and used it to wire wrap the beads and pretty brass filigree bead caps.
I will probably change the clasp, but I don't have another one at the moment, and don't have the appropriate gauge to make one out of bronze. This bracelet is meant to fit close to the wrist, so that the button is the showpiece! I was really excited to make a bracelet this month, and hope you like it too! I was also really excited that I finished it on Wednesday evening instead of late Thursday night!!!! Woot!

Check out Kristie's blog for a list of the other partners and see what they made this month!

Good job solving the problem of the button holes! It really was a challenge figuring out how to use them. This is great!

I like seeing how buttons can be used in jewelry. I love the colors on Kristie's pieces, and the ribs on those beads work perfectly!
Enjoy the day, Miss Sue!

Bracelet time! I think the chain is a good idea to keep the pressure off the sides of the button. I had a problem with the chain on the ceramic texture, though...any movement kind of caused a gritty, grinding sensation. Did you get any of that or am I just too easily annoyed? haaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Ciao!
Jen
The brass chain is the perfect solution for this button. I love that it and the wire don't detract from the beads at all, just work as wonderful supporting cast.

Bead Soup Blog Party!

Welcome to the 3rd Bead Soup Blog Party! What is a Bead Soup Blog Party? Each beader was paired up with another jewelry designer and tasked with sending the following: ~ A focal ~ A special clasp (not just a lobster claw) ~ Some coordinating spacers or beads Using the focal and the clasp was mandatory, but we could use anything from our own stash to round out the rest, and choose to use the coordinating beads or not. You may recall my partner was Margot Potter ; click this link to see the blog post I wrote of what she sent me! Here's what I made! Dangly earrings! Come see what the rest of us made! 1. The Tacky Earring Blog Hop

Diana Ptaszynski had a great idea, instead of a Tacky Christmas Sweater blog hop, a Tacky Holiday Earring blog hop! I was on it.  I had ideas right away.  I had so many I had to control myself.  You can buy these for $15 each, too!  Here we go! I found these awesome wreaths in the miniature Christmas section in Michaels, and they go perfectly with silver and copper colored plastic beads! These trees were found in Michaels, on an end-cap - I assume they are scrapbook or card making supplies, but make fantastic earrings.  The holes were a little small and far down, so I had to make LARGE loops.  Paired these with cute little gold colored jingle bells! And, finally, the ones I had in my head the moment she announced the blog hop.  Dr. Seuss sparkly puff balls with ribbons.  The only thing that would have made these better for me is if I could have found the red ribbons I really wanted to pair these with - don't get me wrong, the silver is cool and all, but in my head they w
