September 11, 2001 - Where were you?

I was at my son's pre-school, waiting for his first day of Young 3's class to be over so we could go to lunch with friends. There's no tv at pre-school, of course, so when my friend Cherie came staggering into the building, crying, I could not imagine what was wrong. I went up to her, thinking there was an accident or something, and she told me. I was incredulous - two planes hitting the Twin Towers could not be an air traffic control mistake. Here in Western Pennsylvania, a plane went down in Shanksville, a town about an hour from Pittsburgh city center, and it sure scared us. My friend Jill went to pick up our daughters from school and bring them home, so we could see and feel that they were safe.
Always remember, never forget. And I hope all of you are safe.

I was at my parent's house in Connecticut, not too far from NYC. I remember that the weather was perfect that day, 78 degrees and a crystal clear blue sky. Later that morning my Mom and I sat outside on the porch. It was so silent... no cars on the road, no planes in the sky. We knew that the world had changed that day and life would never be the same. Thanks for your post and for giving me the opportunity to write this!

I just had to include this photo of my friend Beth's new puppies. They are 11 week old Jack Russell Terriers. The smaller one is the runt of the litter, but too cute. They are Libby and Lucy!!! Click on the photo to see them bigger!

Another quick post!

I know, I'm on a roll today. Even though I got a late start, I've made beads, made posts, done some scrabble tiles, now I have to fold some laundry and think about dinner. Just wanted to post a photo and link to the ebay auction of mine that started last night - I like the beads, they have a southwest feel and would make a fantastic focal piece in a bracelet, or a whole bracelet too! You can click on them to go to the auction!
