The ISGB Gathering Bead Swap

The ISGB (International Society of Glass Beadmakers) has a convention each year, called The Gathering. I love the name - a gathering is the blob of glass you put on the mandrel before you spin your beads! I have never had the chance to attend - I'm not sure if I could, given I feel intimidated as heck by all the glass talent out there! But I've always wanted to. This year, I stumbled upon the chance to do a bead swap with other members who aren't attending the gathering as well! Sign me up! Here are the beads I received!

Bead Soup Blog Party!

The Tacky Earring Blog Hop

Diana Ptaszynski had a great idea, instead of a Tacky Christmas Sweater blog hop, a Tacky Holiday Earring blog hop! I was on it. I had ideas right away. I had so many I had to control myself. You can buy these for $15 each, too! Here we go! I found these awesome wreaths in the miniature Christmas section in Michaels, and they go perfectly with silver and copper colored plastic beads! These trees were found in Michaels, on an end-cap - I assume they are scrapbook or card making supplies, but make fantastic earrings. The holes were a little small and far down, so I had to make LARGE loops. Paired these with cute little gold colored jingle bells! AE Component of the Month - July - Scarabs by Me!

I provided the scarab beads for the Component of the Month Challenge over at Art Elements for July! And as usual, didn't take a photo of my own bead before I started working with it. But here is the one I used - unfortunately, you can't see the lustrous oil slick colors of this black metallic glass because once again we have cloudy days here in Pittsburgh. I made a choker length necklace using spiral stitch and these awesome seed beads that go so well with this black metallic glass! I used hematite swarovski crystals to divide the bead stitching and the scarab focal bead; I actually ordered a pile of pairs of various black swarovski colors and decided that these match the best! I finished off the necklace with the ball socket clasp - it's a nice way to finish a spiral stitch - the size is just right and it's fairly easy to sew into the design.
