Just wondering, does anyone know of any bead stores I need to check out in Maui, Lahaina or nearby? Just sayin'...
Months ago, I took a class at ArtBliss given by Barbara Lewis of Painting with Fire. It involved learning how to make torch-fired enamel beads. I loved it - as you may be able to guess. Barbara did teach us how to fuse items into a flat pendant, but we didn't spend a lot of time on that process, as the day seemed to go so fast! I was making enameled pieces the other night, and due to my own ineptness (remember the big toe burn???) I was able to fuse these two pieces together totally by accident. Now of course, it isn't a usable piece. However, now that I know how to do it, I can see some pieces like this in my future! I can't wait to get more copper cutouts!

I don't remember the name of the shops, but there are a couple in Paia - the other side of the island from Lahaina - right where the Road to Hana starts...
There's also a gallery of glass work just off of Main in Lahaina - I think it's in the same building as BJ's - kinda tucked toward the back of the building...there's lots of neat sculptural glass work in there, and some nifty glass beads...I got a couple...
Lahaina's just a neat town for art in general...If you're not staying in town, try to get there on a Sunday or Monday and check out the market under the Banyan Tree...There's a lot of neat stuff...
When are you going? I can't wait to go back!
