My Stash From Nancy

This is the stash I received from Nancy of Round Rabbit for the Bead Soup Party! On top, you see her ceramic connectors, a clasp, and a beautiful focal piece with birds on a branch. I love the color!

On the bottom, you will see the other beads she sent along - I like the combination, but I'm going to have a hard time putting it altogether. Nancy is an artist first and foremost, and I am not! I hope I can do her work justice!

I spent all morning dealing with a leaking water heater, so didn't get much done. But tonight I got a bunch of photos of beads taken, so I will be listing a few in the SueBeads etsy store in a bit! My focal mania is in full force!

I have a ton of stuff in my cart and I can only sit there and look at it. I hate being broke. lol. The two sets of two lentil beads are my faves. I really, really want those!! Maybe if I get some customers... :)

Can't wait to see what else you have created to tantalize our "eye" buds. lol

Love the colours in the ceramic pieces Nancy sent you. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do. It will be good!

We just went through the leaking water heater saga. Ah, why don't they last forever? Surprising though how much longer the hot water lasts now.

I've purchased some of those triangular connectors from Nancy, but this is the first time I've seen the bird/branch focal. THAT is truly outstanding. Can't wait to see what you do with it!

Bead Soup Blog Party!

Welcome to the 3rd Bead Soup Blog Party! What is a Bead Soup Blog Party? Each beader was paired up with another jewelry designer and tasked with sending the following: ~ A focal ~ A special clasp (not just a lobster claw) ~ Some coordinating spacers or beads Using the focal and the clasp was mandatory, but we could use anything from our own stash to round out the rest, and choose to use the coordinating beads or not. You may recall my partner was Margot Potter ; click this link to see the blog post I wrote of what she sent me! Here's what I made! Dangly earrings! Come see what the rest of us made! 1. AE Component of the Month - July - Scarabs by Me!

I provided the scarab beads for the Component of the Month Challenge over at Art Elements for July! And as usual, didn't take a photo of my own bead before I started working with it.  But here is the one I used - unfortunately, you can't see the lustrous oil slick colors of this black metallic glass because once again we have cloudy days here in Pittsburgh. I made a choker length necklace using spiral stitch and these awesome seed beads that go so well with this black metallic glass! I used hematite swarovski crystals to divide the bead stitching and the scarab focal bead; I actually ordered a pile of pairs of various black swarovski colors and decided that these match the best! I finished off the necklace with the ball socket clasp - it's a nice way to finish a spiral stitch - the size is just right and it's fairly easy to sew into the design. Please check out what our guests and team members made with their scarabs! And thanks to everyone who took par...

Art Elements April Theme Challenge - Repurpose

The AE Theme Challenge this month is Repurpose chosen by Lesley. Great subject, and I wish I had more time to work on it. The day job kind of takes away my creative energy at times, and this month is no exception! However I did manage to do a few things! The first thing I thought of for the theme was something I had been thinking about for a long time. I remembered I had this magazine that repurposed those desiccant containers you get in pill bottles into beaded beads. I set out to find that magazine in my stash. I'm glad I found it, because it was actually driving me nuts as to where it was. Here are some photos of me in the process of making some of these beads. So the first one I made, I liked ok. But noticed on the end that you could see the white container through the ends. So I got a sharpie out for the next one, and colored the ends so they didn't look so white. Then I made a few more of these beads, and quite honestly, I was done with...
