My Chiminea


Doesn't that sound like it should be a song? I ordered this chiminea - it came last week, but the engineer and I (well, mostly the engineer) put it together yesterday. It has a dragonfly motif on it, and it's black cast aluminum. You can cook on it too - you remove the top and put a cooking grate on. Doubt I'll do that - I have a grill. But I'm sure the kids will want to roast marshmallows! We were going to use it last night, but just plain forgot! So maybe tonight when the kids get home, we'll try it out - we'll see, there's a Steeler game on at 8:20 that we don't want to miss, either. And homework, and Youth Group, etc. etc.! Happy Monday!

I love that!! The one I have is boring compared to that one. It is also already too cold to use it here. Oh well :)

Love the design! Tonight was a pretty cold one so hopefully you guys got some use out of it during commercials for the Steelers game.

The Tacky Earring Blog Hop

Diana Ptaszynski had a great idea, instead of a Tacky Christmas Sweater blog hop, a Tacky Holiday Earring blog hop! I was on it.  I had ideas right away.  I had so many I had to control myself.  You can buy these for $15 each, too!  Here we go! I found these awesome wreaths in the miniature Christmas section in Michaels, and they go perfectly with silver and copper colored plastic beads! These trees were found in Michaels, on an end-cap - I assume they are scrapbook or card making supplies, but make fantastic earrings.  The holes were a little small and far down, so I had to make LARGE loops.  Paired these with cute little gold colored jingle bells! And, finally, the ones I had in my head the moment she announced the blog hop.  Dr. Seuss sparkly puff balls with ribbons.  The only thing that would have made these better for me is if I could have found the red ribbons I really wanted to pair these with - don't get me wrong, the silver is ...

AE Component of the Month - July - Scarabs by Me!

I provided the scarab beads for the Component of the Month Challenge over at Art Elements for July! And as usual, didn't take a photo of my own bead before I started working with it.  But here is the one I used - unfortunately, you can't see the lustrous oil slick colors of this black metallic glass because once again we have cloudy days here in Pittsburgh. I made a choker length necklace using spiral stitch and these awesome seed beads that go so well with this black metallic glass! I used hematite swarovski crystals to divide the bead stitching and the scarab focal bead; I actually ordered a pile of pairs of various black swarovski colors and decided that these match the best! I finished off the necklace with the ball socket clasp - it's a nice way to finish a spiral stitch - the size is just right and it's fairly easy to sew into the design.
