Art Elements Theme Challenge - August - Swirls

This month Marsha Neal chose swirls as the theme of the month! I'm enjoying the challenges as themes. I've been giving my wrist a break because of perceived carpal tunnel, so I've been doing a lot in polymer, and by a lot, I mean when I have a few half hours of time!

Here are the swirl themed polymer items I made for this month!

This first one reminds me of a fiddlehead fern, all closed up. I painted it with alcohol inks.

This next one is the before of the ammonite hearts I did. Two of my favorite things, ammonites and hearts! Colored with alcohol inks.

I made two, the colors turned out very different!
More spirals in the form of polymer clay ammonite cabochons. I really love mixing the paints to color these! Plus you get a gratuitous flower shot!
More ammonites colored with ranger patina inks and alcohol inks in that order.
My fave, I think - I love the colors! Alcohol inks.
This next one was made with acrylic paint and I tried crackle on it, didn't work out too well but gave it a texture, then sealed with liquitex.
And finally, a sort of work in progress. The idea is to looks a little like Van Gogh art, the swirls and the sunflowers. Not quite what I had in mind, but I just added it to a very short lampwork session so I'll probably explore this more - I don't have much of the sunflower cane so I have to be careful what I do!
Many of the polymer clay swirls are available in my SueBeads etsy store. I hope you visit the other blogs to see what everyone else made, and thank you Marsha for an inspiring theme!

I love the design on the first piece shown the fern style one but the colours have to go to the second heart for me, they really pop!

I love your polymer clay explorations. Even though I'm not really a heart girl, I'm drooling over those ammonite hearts! So cool. That lampwork bead is really cool too... look forward to seeing where you take those ideas in the future.

The Tacky Earring Blog Hop

Diana Ptaszynski had a great idea, instead of a Tacky Christmas Sweater blog hop, a Tacky Holiday Earring blog hop! I was on it.  I had ideas right away.  I had so many I had to control myself.  You can buy these for $15 each, too!  Here we go! I found these awesome wreaths in the miniature Christmas section in Michaels, and they go perfectly with silver and copper colored plastic beads! These trees were found in Michaels, on an end-cap - I assume they are scrapbook or card making supplies, but make fantastic earrings.  The holes were a little small and far down, so I had to make LARGE loops.  Paired these with cute little gold colored jingle bells! And, finally, the ones I had in my head the moment she announced the blog hop.  Dr. Seuss sparkly puff balls with ribbons.  The only thing that would have made these better for me is if I could have found the red ribbons I really wanted to pair these with - don't get me wrong, the silver is cool and all, but in my head they w

Bead Soup Blog Party!

Welcome to the 3rd Bead Soup Blog Party! What is a Bead Soup Blog Party? Each beader was paired up with another jewelry designer and tasked with sending the following: ~ A focal ~ A special clasp (not just a lobster claw) ~ Some coordinating spacers or beads Using the focal and the clasp was mandatory, but we could use anything from our own stash to round out the rest, and choose to use the coordinating beads or not. You may recall my partner was Margot Potter ; click this link to see the blog post I wrote of what she sent me! Here's what I made! Dangly earrings! Come see what the rest of us made! 1.
