Bead Show Beads

I recently attended the InterGem Bead Show in Monroeville, and thought I'd show you the pretties I picked up while there!

The ones above are from Holy and Pure Gemstone - a different color palette than I normally am attracted to, but I don't have any beads in these colors!

These ones are from Eagle - the main thing I wanted from them are all these pretty titanium hematite beads.  I first saw them at Bead Fest Philly last year and am glad I found some more, so I don't feel bad about using them!

BTW, I will be at Bead Fest Philly again this year in August. I'll remind you when it's coming up, but wanted you to know that since it's work season now (with contractor boyfriend) and I have to start making inventory for Bead Fest, the bead updates might be less often.  I will post here when I'm updating my etsy store.

ALSO!  Please remember, I have a web site.  I have beads listed in the catalog there that are different than the ones that appear on etsy.  They are made to order and you can find them here:

I also have to apologize for the few and far between blog posts and the less than immediate responses to your comment.  For some reason, since the holidays, I have not been able to get into the swing of things.  One reason may be that I had been constantly sick this past winter, with the sickness culminating in a very bad case of bronchitis with a 103.7 fever.  I also see to be too busy to get anything accomplished, although I have no idea why.  It will just get worst with summer, and work, and everything else.  So THANK YOU for visiting my blog and for bearing with me!

Happy Accident!

Months ago, I took a class at ArtBliss given by Barbara Lewis of Painting with Fire. It involved learning how to make torch-fired enamel beads. I loved it - as you may be able to guess. Barbara did teach us how to fuse items into a flat pendant, but we didn't spend a lot of time on that process, as the day seemed to go so fast! I was making enameled pieces the other night, and due to my own ineptness (remember the big toe burn???) I was able to fuse these two pieces together totally by accident. Now of course, it isn't a usable piece. However, now that I know how to do it, I can see some pieces like this in my future! I can't wait to get more copper cutouts!

Art Elements February Theme Challenge - Birds of Prey

Cathy Mendola chose Birds of Prey for the theme this month, and it's a pretty awesome theme. You are going to see some amazing work by my team members and the guests who have participated this month! I had plans of doing more than I did, as indicated by the purchases I made for the projects I had in my head. However, I have been doing some work in my house, so whenever time permitted, meaning after work and weekend hours, we were pretty much doing the room renovations. One of them is going to be my study/studio, and I seem to be foiled at every move by trying to get some work tables. So I have only one small project to show you this month.  But first, the purchases!

This first Bali carved owl totem I got from fifirosedesigns on etsy - I wanted to make a mold and make my own cabochon to use in a necklace. However, I really did get around to doing that. So, I purchased the owl heads below.

These owl head cabochons are from ArtisticVariations84 on etsy - they are just fantastic, but …

October Art Elements Theme Challenge - Petroglyphs

I'm afraid I just didn't have the time to participate in last months theme, which was faerie. This month the theme is petroglyphs hosted by Karen Totten. Since I'm spending 10 days in Iceland this month, I really didn't get to spend any extended amount of time on the theme, but I did find these AWESOME petroglyph earring charms by Jill of Foxpaws on etsy! I highly recommend checking out her shop - every package you get is a gift in itself - TRUST ME!

SO here are the earrings I made!

I hope you also visit all the other participants! I'm sure there will be some awesome creations!
