Saturday Sequins Blog Hop!

Sarah, from Saturday Sequins, is holding a blog hop today!  Our challenge was to make something from sequins!  At first it sounded really easy, so I said yes!  Then I decided it's not so easy - I'm not a sewing kind of girl so creating something like Sarah makes would be out of the question!  She makes amazing things!  But I got the idea in my head to make earrings!  I bought some chain, and about 100 4mm jump rings, and had the cones and the black seed beads!  I needed sequins!  I bought some really really nice vintage French sequins from A Grain of Sand - she has some great vintage things in her store, you should take a look!  I bought pearl white, ivory and black.  I had plans on making something else, as well, but you'll have to do with the earrings, because that's all I got accomplished.  I'm getting ready for the big Delmont Apple N Arts Festival next weekend, so that is really taking all my time!  By the way, if you are from around here, you should try to make it out to Delmont, it's a lot of fun!

So here are my earrings!  They were very tedious!  Putting the sequin on the jump ring, then putting the jump ring on the chain, with the chain already attached to the eye pin, was a challenge!  But I think the only way I could have got it done!  They were fun to make, and when I have time, I'll make the other item that I have in my head, and then I'll show it to you as well!  Although who really knows when that will be :)

Another view of the earrings!

Please take some time to visit with everyone else who made something with sequins this weekend!  I'm sure you're going to find some amazing things!

Sue, your earrings are beautiful! Sequins and chain are such a great combination, and I love the black seed bead accent.

Thank you so much for participating in the challenge! :)

Ok, you get the award for patience! That would have driven me bananas, but it was so worth the effort. They are really lovely, and I'm sure they will have great movement when worn. Looking forward to hearing all about the fair!

I bet these look great on, shiny bling that swings from your ears. xox

I like your earrings a lot, Sue! I can understand how tedious they must have been, but they turned out great!
Hi Sue,
I love the dangles of sequin covered chain in your earrings. Oh the sound they must make when one wears them. Beautiful!

Your earrings do look tedious, but also so much fun! Great job with this challenge.

Your earrings are fun and flirty.
First, thank you for sharing the link to "A Grain of Sand" - I had no idea where one might even find vintage sequins -- what a treasure! thank you :)

Beautiful earrings! As a chain maille artist, I know the time that must have gone into creating your sophisticated French vintage earrings. The design is rich and chic, sexy and lovely -- completely sequintastic!

gracias,
Rita

Fabulously fun. I can see all the tedious work that went into them.

Those do look like a lot of work, but I'm sure they shimmy beautifully.

Bead Soup Blog Party!

Welcome to the 3rd Bead Soup Blog Party! What is a Bead Soup Blog Party? Each beader was paired up with another jewelry designer and tasked with sending the following: ~ A focal ~ A special clasp (not just a lobster claw) ~ Some coordinating spacers or beads Using the focal and the clasp was mandatory, but we could use anything from our own stash to round out the rest, and choose to use the coordinating beads or not. You may recall my partner was Margot Potter ; click this link to see the blog post I wrote of what she sent me! Here's what I made! Dangly earrings! Come see what the rest of us made! 1. The Tacky Earring Blog Hop

Diana Ptaszynski had a great idea, instead of a Tacky Christmas Sweater blog hop, a Tacky Holiday Earring blog hop! I was on it.  I had ideas right away.  I had so many I had to control myself.  You can buy these for $15 each, too!  Here we go! I found these awesome wreaths in the miniature Christmas section in Michaels, and they go perfectly with silver and copper colored plastic beads! These trees were found in Michaels, on an end-cap - I assume they are scrapbook or card making supplies, but make fantastic earrings.  The holes were a little small and far down, so I had to make LARGE loops.  Paired these with cute little gold colored jingle bells! And, finally, the ones I had in my head the moment she announced the blog hop.  Dr. Seuss sparkly puff balls with ribbons.  The only thing that would have made these better for me is if I could have found the red ribbons I really wanted to pair these with - don't get me wrong, the silver is cool and all, but in my head they w
