Earring Swap Blog Hop

Jessica Murray of Whimsical Monkey hosted an Earring Swap and today is the reveal!  My partner was Alenka Obid of Pepita Handmade!  She makes WONDERFUL polymer clay beads and creations!  Here's a link to her flickr page where you can see more of her work!

Here's what she sent me!  These earrings are made with her own polymer clay beads, aren't they fantastic?

She also sent me this very pretty little treat:

And here's what I sent her:

And I sent her this little treat:

And unfortunately, what I mailed her did not arrive in Slovenia yet.  Or, it's being held up in customs.  I have no idea... I feel pretty bad though.  I will be sending her a new set of earrings if they don't arrive today.  Please take a look at Jessica's blog to see who else made earrings!

Art Jewelry Elements Earring Challenge - 17 & 18/52

First of all, Happy Mother's Day to everyone!  Here are the earrings I made for the challenge, with my own enamel beads!

These were fun to make.  Please hop on over to Art Jewelry Elements to see which earrings I highlighted this week!

AJE Component of the Month - Jennifer Stout Cameron!

Today is the reveal for the Art Jewelry Elements Component of the Month!  This month, Jennifer Stout Cameron of Glass Addictions provided us with a pair of glass headpins she made!

I'm afraid I wasn't too imaginative, in that I made earrings from the pair.  While I wanted them to be dangles on something, like a bracelet, earrings just kept calling to me!  These are as close to mis-matched earrings as I will ever get!  The headpins came with a very long piece of copper and I cringed when I cut it - what if I dind't like the earrings I made?  Well, too bad, Sue, you'll have to live with it when you cut!  I feel like I need to add one more dangle to the earrings, and then I'll be happy with them!

Please stop by Art Jewelry Elements blog to see what everyone else made with their wonderful headpins!  And thanks Jennifer for the amazingly wonderful headpins!

Bead Soup

My bead soup arrived from my partner, Krista Quantrill! It only took a week to go from Canada to Pittsburgh, and mine only took a week to get to her.  We mailed them on the same day, and they both arrived on the same day - that's too funny!

Here's what she sent me.  The focal is a really cool ceramic greek focal, there's wood, swarovski pearls, copper rice beads, two very cool patinated copper beads, the patinated clasp and really cool czech blue-green melons.  I love the soup!  Can't wait to get started!

We both happened to send our soup in pink packaging, really funny coincidence again!

This is the teaser shot I published a few days ago:

And here's what I sent to Krista:

Another funny coincidence, we both sent the same color scheme!  I'm looking forward to seeing what we both make out of our soup!

52 Weeks - Focus on Life - Week 7

Our prompt this week from Sally Russick is Beauty of Flowers!  I'm all over this one!  My daughter recently had her Senior Banquet and on the tables were potted orchids from Manchester Craftsman's Guild; all the girls got to take an orchid plant home!  This is a flower on her plant that I mixed up a little with Pixlr on my phone!  I love that app!  Just wish I could see a bit better to use it lol!  Head on over to Sally's blog to see the rest of the photos!

Art Jewelry Elements Earring Challenge - 6/52

Here's my week 6 entry for the Art Jewelry Elements Earring Challenge!  I used my own enameled copper teardrop beads and enameled headpins, with some copper daisy spacers and a small bronze seed bead at the top!  Copper ear wires I made myself, as well!

Bead Soup Teaser

I received my Bead Soup partner over the weekend - she's Krista Quantrill of Kanata, Ontario, Canada!  I was finally able to mail her bead soup today - here's a little teaser of what I sent her!  I used a photo editor called Be Funky - it was fun, and easy to use!  When she finally receives her bead soup, I'll repost with a photo of what I sent!

52 Weeks - Focus On Life - Week Five - Capture Our Hearts

This week's prompt for Sally Russick's 52 Weeks Focus on Life Challenge is "Capture Our Hearts."  Our assignment was to capture some hearts this week in the world around us.  Hmmmm.  While there were definitely hearts all around us, I wasn't out much this past week.  AND my photo for last week was a heart I made.  So here's my image for the week - I was cutting up strawberries for the kids and found this one!  Woo Hoo!

AJE Component of the Month Reveal - January

Over at Art Jewelry Elements, it's time for the January Component of the Month Reveal. This month, it was Karen Totten's turn -she's the lovely woman behind Starry Road Studio.  She made us pie to use this month!  Actually, they are hollow lentil beads, but they kind of resemble pie!  I chose this olive one with reddish-brown tints.  Very fall-like.  I really like olive green.

This wasn't what I was going to make.  In fact I ordered beads, but they did not arrive in time.  So I ran to Michael's at the last minute, something I REALLY hate to do, and purchased these metallic rounds and ceramic discs.  They really go well with the piece Karen made.

I used the green metallic rounds because they really matched with my olive pie.  The discs are in shades of butter yellow, brown, and rust red, and really give the whole piece an autumnal feel.

I finished the piece off with antiqued copper chain and toggle clasp.  All in all, even though it wasn't what I was going to …
