What a Fun Day!

We all had a great day today! We went to Jason's where I made lunch of some really good mexican style chicken soup and homemade mac and cheese, and the kids had a great time sled riding! Jason and I took a walk down to see donkey (aka Eeeyore) and Skipper, and he took these photos. I think they came out really well, so I had to share. I rarely like photos of myself! Eeyore and Skipper were getting peppermints! They really liked the attention, too. We all went out to dinner later for Jason's birthday, and on the way home, I had to take a photo of these rainbow trees to share with you all. It's hard to see the purple one, but I love how the lights came out in the darkness of this photo!

Art Bliss Ornament Exchange

I decided to participate in the Art Bliss Ornament Exchange! My partner was Sally Russick, who happens to also live in Pennsylvania! She has a blog called WireWorked . She has an etsy store, too, which you can find here (it's on hiatus right now). I thought since I sent her ornament I'd show you what I sent. This is the first time I made an ornament with my beads, if you can believe it, and I really hope she likes it. It was fun, I think I will make more!

For Another Friend

Here's a pair of earrings I made for my friend Jill. She's pretty amazing too - she is the director of a LARGE program at the Community College and deals with daily frustrations! She owns my daughter's best friend, a great husband, and many pets, including two horses. I hope she'll like these earrings! (The glass is transparent dark steel gray - just hard to see in photos - especially in a place that gets less sun than Seattle!)

New Beads!

I listed some new beadies in my SueBeads etsy store last night. I think I'll be taking a few days off from making beads, but will still be selling! Use the coupon code HOLIDAY to get 15% off my SueBeads etsy store until Sunday!

For My Friend

I made this pair of earrings for my friend Beth! I'm seeing her tonight for dinner. She is so busy, she is an amazing mom and wife, she runs several programs at the Children's Institute and she is getting her Ph.D. right now, and running a conference this spring! We don't get to see each other enough. I don't think she'll see this before we meet tonight, but if she does see it, she'll know I think she's amazing!

Coupon Code

Please use the coupon code HOLIDAY to save 15% at my SueBeads etsy store now until the end of the week (like Sunday or so!!!)!

Lampwork Beads Update

I had some fun making focals yesterday! You can find these in the SueBeads etsy store !

Gorgeous!

Look at the gorgeous necklace that D'Arsie of Mamacita Beadworks created using my key beads! It's very simple, but just gorgeous!!! Check out her shop - she does amazing work!

More Great Sunday

Since I can only upload 5 photos at a time, here's the second part of the post. Here's a cute photo of the kids in the "Winter Classic" store posing in the funny hats they had for sale! You may know that the Hockey Winter Classic game is being played here in Pittsburgh on New Year's Day, at Heinz Field. Pens vs. Capitals. Can you guess who I want to win? I was so glad I stopped in at Penn Avenue Pottery . The artist Tracey Seder Donoughe sells her wares there. I had a great talk with her and bought these fantastic beads and buttons! I think I may even take her up on her offer to learn how to make these beads myself! I had a hard time only choosing 8 beads, but we had to leave to make it back to the museum. Her beads are just so cool! So earthy! Finally, we went to Lidia's for dinner, and it was fantastic. The kids had a blast and so did Jason and I! To top off the night, the Steelers won over the Ravens!!!! What a great day!

A Great Sunday

On Sunday, me and Jason and our kids took in The Vatican Splendors Exhibit at the Heinz History Center in the Strip District . We had timed tickets, so we decided to do a few things first. We visited the exhibits in the museum and this stained glass window is part of the glass exhibit they still have there. It is so beautiful - you don't have to be religious to appreciate the simpleness of the lines and the feeling in this piece of glass. Or maybe I'm biased? This is George Washingtonsaurus. It was part of a campaign years ago where organizations purchased dinosaurs to decorate and the proceeds went to charity. This is a mural out front of a costume store. I just thought it was kinda cool. A mural in the history center that someone did of the City of Pittsburgh, it's very interesting to see the whole thing. Finally, our kids hamming it up in the roller coaster car!
